Zhidao Biotech develops core protein-engineering and manufacturing platforms, including target discovery, protein molecular engineering, high-throughput screening, developability optimization, and clinical development. The company has created a proprietary prokaryotic directed refolding technology to convert inclusion-body expressed proteins into active recombinant proteins, and has localized upstream strains and downstream materials and enzyme inputs. Its platform has enabled license-outs and collaboration deals with multiple pharma companies and ongoing revenue streams via milestone payments, patent licensing fees, and sales-sharing. Zhidao has advanced internal pipeline programs, including LTC004, a novel cytokine antitumor candidate that entered China phase I in September 2022 and reportedly shows several-fold higher efficacy than wild-type IL-2 with substantially lower toxicity versus published NKTR-214 data. The company also produces high-value protein raw materials and production enzymes at scale to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and is pursuing industrialization and commercialization of those products. Zhidao has established partnerships across pharma and industrial biology, including a 2022 strategic collaboration to develop a green chemical production platform.
