Semexe is a Brazilian marketplace for sports and cycling equipment that sells new products and certified pre-owned gear. Founded in 2019 by Gabriel Novais and Rafael Papa and born in a São Paulo garage, the company lists thousands of products. Over the past 12 months it recorded more than 2 million site visits and R$15 million in sales, and grew more than fourfold in the same period. Semexe provides specialist customer consultants, at‑home bicycle assembly/disassembly and packaging services, and certificates of provenance to increase trust in used equipment. It has drawn interest from multinationals such as Michelin, Shimano and GoPro and secured an exclusive contract with Bianchi to sell its e-Omnia e-bikes online in Brazil. The startup partners with initiatives like the ‘Pedaling for a Reason’ project and launched the ‘Guia de Preços Semexe,’ the first bike price table in Brazil. Following the new investment, Semexe plans to invest in technology, customer experience and expansion into new categories.
