  • Lotame

    Participated · Series C · Dec 2010

Lotame provides marketers, publishers and agencies with a platform to collect, unify, protect and activate audience data. The DMP helps customers monetize data, create premium properties, target more efficiently and drive higher campaign performance and revenue. Customers named in the article include Trinity Mirror, Media Crossing, ESPN Australia, Wego.com and SingTel. Led by founder and CEO Andy Monfried, Lotame plans to accelerate development of its real-time, cross-device data platform using the new financing. The company secured $15M in a Series D and has now raised a total of $44M. Lotame is based in New York. Lotame Solutions is a New York, NY and Columbia, MD-based data management platform serving publishers, ad networks and marketers. Led by founder and CEO Andy Monfried, the company provides solutions that collect unstructured audience data from disparate sources and organize it into a single interface. Its platform converts that audience data into action, insights and intelligence across channels. Lotame received a $5.5M venture loan facility from Horizon Technology Finance Corporation (Nasdaq: HRZN). The company plans to use the financing to strengthen global initiatives across five continents and to expand its sales, technology and executive teams. Lotame offers an audience data management platform called Crowd ControlTM that integrates with web publishers to activate audiences through data-driven display advertising. The company closed an $11M Series C financing and, in conjunction with the round, secured a growth capital line from Pinnacle. The funding is intended to support the company’s platform and go-to-market efforts. Lotame is led by CEO Andy Monfried and is a member of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), and the Online Publishers Association (OPA). Recent hires include Bruce Budkofsky as VP of Platform Sales and Services and Andrew Bradway as Director of Platform Recruitment, the latter working out of the Columbia, MD office. Current CMO Eric Porres remains on the leadership team. Lotame is an advertising platform for social media and networks built around a targeting technology it calls "Crowd Control". The company says it captures engagement-based data that was previously unavailable and feeds that data back to advertisers and publishers to increase ROI. Lotame positions this behavioral targeting as a way for publishers to move beyond traditional analytics to better monetize content. The company attracted outside funding in what was described as its first investment. The specific amount of the round was undisclosed and characterized as a "multi-million dollar" financing; PaidContent later reported the round was probably around $10 million. The round drew participation from Battery Ventures, Hillcrest Management, and Betaworks.
