Lefit operates a new-concept O2O gym platform focused on a retail, pay-per-use model rather than annual memberships. The company builds and runs its own gyms to acquire offline users and integrate more offline services. As of October, Lefit had built over 200 gyms across eight cities and offers a 99 yuan monthly package granting access to its clubs and group classes. Lefit targets beginner gym-goers and near-work/home demand, positioning smaller, 24-hour and group-class focused sites as an alternative to large traditional clubs. The company sees building gyms itself as a step toward a broader O2O platform and plans to speed up openings and potentially acquire other operators to expand its offline network. Lefit faces the operational challenge of rapid expansion while ensuring existing gyms at least break even, and expects new capital to alleviate financial pressure on its gyms.
