  SpatialGPT is a new Australian generative AI startup. It was founded by former Microsoft executives and is being led by ex-Microsoft executives George Stavrakakis and Rupert Walsh. Robert Marolda, also a Microsoft alumnus, has been appointed CEO. The company secured $5.1 million in seed funding from AI-focused venture studio InnovateGPT. The raise was reported as part of a group of seven Australian startups that collectively raised $17.7 million that week.

  SpatialGPT develops AI-powered spatial computing and generative-AI solutions using technologies such as Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, Microsoft Copilot, Apple Vision Pro and JigSpace. Its product suite includes AI copilots for construction workflows, virtual reality walkthroughs for early design decisions, real-time progress tracking with automated reporting, and advanced data collection for risk mitigation and insurance claims. The company will initially target billion-dollar construction projects to improve precision, reduce delays and optimise costs, then expand into education, healthcare and retail. Leadership includes CEO Robert Marolda, who has 9+ years at Microsoft and most recently served as Director of Corporate & Commercial Sales at VMware, and backing from InnovateGPT Group founders George Stavrakakis and Rupert Walsh, both ex-Microsoft executives. Financially, SpatialGPT launched with an A$5.1 million investment from InnovateGPT Group; InnovateGPT has incubated 13 AI startups and invested over $15 million across its portfolio.
