  • Tribune Therapeutics

    Participated · Series A · Mar 2025

Tribune Therapeutics is advancing novel medicines to treat fibrosis regardless of cause, tissue, or diagnosis by targeting central, tissue‑agnostic drivers of scar formation in the CCN protein family. Its lead program, TRX‑44, is a CCN5 mimic designed to prevent scar formation by blocking the pro‑fibrotic effects of CTGF/CCN2 and WISP1/CCN4 across multiple cell types. The company’s approach aims to be broader than blocking individual CCN proteins or upstream activators like TGF‑beta, with the potential to avoid toxicities that have hindered less targeted strategies. Tribune is advancing multiple programs targeting CCN biology and plans to use new funding to prepare TRX‑44 to enter clinical trials for fibrotic indications including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Tribune, based in Stockholm and Oslo, raised a total of €37 million in seed and Series A financings to support these programs. The financing and accompanying board additions are intended to advance the company’s preclinical programs toward the clinic. Tribune Therapeutics is a preclinical biopharmaceutical company founded in 2020 in Oslo developing medicines that exploit a novel pan-antifibrotic mechanism. The company in-licensed a breakthrough asset from Inven2 based on research from Håvard Attramadal’s lab. Its lead program targets fibrotic diseases affecting the kidney, lung and liver, and Tribune is building a pipeline across multiple fibrotic indications. Tribune was co-created and funded by HealthCap and Novo Seeds (the early-stage arm of Novo Holdings) and launched from stealth with seed financing. Leadership appointments associated with the launch include Executive Chairman Jonas Hansson, incoming CEO Georg Vo Beiske, and CSO Ole Jørgen Kaasbøll. The company is preclinical and no operating metrics or revenue figures are disclosed in the articles.
