GAYA, founded in 2021 by Amélie Guicheney and Jacques Bonneville, makes affordable electric cargo bikes designed to ease daily life for urban families and is present in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Nantes. Its product line includes two lengths (Compact and Cargo) with up to 160 kg payload, capacity for multiple passengers, remote locking, turn signals, horn, headlight and brake light. The company reports €2.5M of turnover in nine months, more than 1,000 bikes sold, 2,500 bike tests and early models logging 300,000 km. GAYA opened a workshop-boutique on the Canal Saint‑Martin and provides maintenance through 400 approved repairers as well as a geolocation solution to fight theft. The startup plans to accelerate deployment in major French cities, expand into Europe from 2024, relocate assembly and part of production to France, and develop a new range co-built with customers for spring 2024. The founders emphasize co-construction with customers and aim to position GAYA as the preferred family mobility alternative in cities.
