Overview
KIIT-TBI is an initiative that aims to facilitate technology development and commercialization. Their services include issues related to legal and IPR protection; Industry linkage for technology transfer; linkages with R&D Labs for technology sourcing; training and networking; linkage with potential advisors and mentors; access to angel investors and venture capital funding; loan assistance from banks; and more. KIIT-TBI was launched by KIIT University with the support of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

Comofi Medtech, founded in 2018 by Satish Kalme and Kubasad Gururaj, is developing nGuide, a patented surgical intervention platform that helps surgeons visualize target areas in detail to improve efficiency, outcomes, and safety. The company also produces PPE and last year launched two patent-pending N-95 mask variants (NT-Mask C19 and NT-Mask Connect), and manufactures PPE kits, surgical masks, gloves, and goggles amid the pandemic. Comofi raised a total of Rs 2.15 crore from IIM Ahmedabad’s incubator (CIIE.CO), JITO Angel Network, and KIIT Technology Business Incubator. It plans to use the funds for team expansion, product compliance and certification, and working capital. CEO Dr Satish Kalme said the partnership will help increase the hospital network, add strategic depth, and achieve the first few installations in hospitals.

EzeRx builds affordable, non-invasive prescreening and diagnostic devices and a teledentistry platform aimed at rural and semi-urban areas. Its product portfolio includes AJO, OzoRx, OralOScope and the Aarogya teledentistry platform. The startup plans to launch a chain of dental clinics using smart health kiosks, targeting 12 centres by FY21. EzeRx has been incubated at KIIT-TBI since 2019 and has received prototyping, clinical trial and regulatory support from the incubator. Following the latest seed round it is valued at Rs 12 crore and will deploy funds toward team building, regulatory compliance, manufacturing facilities and working capital. Founded in 2018 by Partha Pratim Das Mahapatra, Chaitali Roy and Amit Mandahar, the company also works on R&D projects with partners such as Indian Oil Corporation.
