gDine is an online group dining startup that works with local restaurant owners to create dining menus, special options and rates for groups ranging from two to 200. The service lets users book ahead, pay online, and split the bill with friends ahead of time. The company launched in Chicago earlier that year and is operating there. gDine plans to expand the service to New York City in the next few months and expects to be operating in several other major U.S. cities by 2012. It intends to use the funds to support geographic expansion and to increase its management team in Chicago. Financially, gDine received $500,000 from Lakshmi Capital, which also holds an option to invest an additional $500,000 within the next three months.
