Inboard sells electric scooters and skateboards and has launched general availability of its first premium scooter, the Glider, its second product after the M1 electric skateboard. The Glider retails for $999 on pre-order (rising to $1,299 after 12/31/18), features a swappable battery and an integrated app that provides location, traffic, diagnostics and maintenance alerts. The scooter emphasizes safety with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, larger tires, a wider deck, and a rider-height design below the axle centerline. Gliders include a three-axis accelerometer that detects vibrations to inform riders about road obstacles via the app. Inboard sold 285 Gliders in a private pre-sale, with about 80% of orders from the U.S. and 35% from California. The company is backed by $11.7 million in venture financing from investors including Upfront Ventures, LION Smart, Sunstone Capital and Sweet Capital.
