Cantargia develops antibody therapeutics that target the Interleukin-1 receptor accessory protein (IL1RAP), a receptor upregulated on leukemic stem cells in CML, AML and ALL. Its lead monoclonal antibody has shown notable efficacy in in vivo disease models and is entering late preclinical development. The company intends to increase focus on business development and commercial partnerships to advance its program. Cantargia announced a 3 MSEK capital injection from its main shareholder LU Bioscience as the first step in a long-term financial strategy. After the financing LU Bio's ownership rose to 59.2%. The company also reinforced its board, appointing Sven Andréasson as chairman and adding Lars Larsson, to bolster experience in pharma, partnering and clinical development. Cantargia is based in Lund. Cantargia develops antibody-based therapeutics that target the Interleukin-1 receptor accessory protein (IL1RAP), a receptor expressed on leukemic stem cells but not on corresponding normal stem cells. The company’s lead program is a monoclonal antibody against IL1RAP. Cantargia plans to further characterize this lead antibody and to prepare for GMP production and pre-clinical safety studies. The company is led by CEO Anki Malmborg Hager and builds on discovery work by Prof Thoas Fioretos and Dr Marcus Järås. Financially, Cantargia completed a SEK7M financing to support near-term development activities. The round included investments from Sunstone Capital and LUBio and resulted in changed ownership stakes.
