BacAlt Biosciences, founded in 2023 by Shruti Kutmutia and Pranav Nair, engineers bio-based polymers and specialty ingredients through proprietary biotechnology processes. The company’s products aim to replace or enhance traditional chemical inputs with sustainable, biology-driven alternatives. With an $8 million post-money valuation, BacAlt is still at the pre-revenue, R&D-heavy stage. The newly secured capital will be used to scale research and development, build pilot production facilities, and expand hiring across technical and go-to-market functions. Management also plans to craft market-entry strategies to support geographic expansion once pilot production is online. This pre-seed infusion positions BacAlt to validate its technology at scale before pursuing larger commercial and regulatory milestones.
