Shaka Tea produces bottled ready-to-drink iced teas and functional home-brew blends made from Hawaiian māmaki. The company positions a premium product at an accessible SRP of $1.98–$2.49 per bottle. Since launching four years ago it has grown roughly 300% year-over-year and recently added about 1,000 retail doors including The Fresh Market, GNC, Whole Foods Market SoPac, and Piggly Wiggly. In 2020 Shaka Tea opened its own processing facility to wash, dehydrate, cut and ship māmaki leaves to co-packers and sources māmaki from Mauna Loa and Kīlauea on Hawaiʻi Island. The business is capital efficient, saw a 566% increase in direct-to-consumer spend since March, and expects to be profitable by the end of the year if it stays on track. Recent hires and a new website launch are intended to support accelerated DTC growth and improved digital marketing.
