  Seed&Spark operates a crowdfunding and digital distribution platform focused on independent film. Its crowdfunding tool, the “WishList,” allows supporters to buy or loan specific items to a production. Supporters earn rewards points called “Sparks,” which they can spend to watch films on the streaming platform. The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and pursue more distribution partnerships and has announced a distribution partnership with American Express. Seed&Spark is led by founder and CEO Emily Best. In conjunction with the financing, Julie Parker Benello and Chad Troutwine joined the company’s board. The platform features projects by a group called Founding Filmmakers and Seed&Spark Studio curates fundraising campaigns for independent movie productions. Each campaign centers on a crowdfunding tool called the Seed&Spark WishList, which lets filmmakers list what they need to make, market and distribute a film. Members can support projects via cash, equipment, services, locations and more, and earn “Sparks” that can be redeemed to watch films on the streaming platform. Seed&Spark Cinema offers films for streaming, including titles from Sundance, SXSW and Tribeca.
