Q.Big 3D specialises in large-format 3D printing and was founded in 2019 as a spin-out of Aalen University. Its flagship machine, the Queen 1, is an XXXL printer that uses economical plastic pellets and Q.Big 3D's patented two-nozzle system (one nozzle for fast, high-volume printing and one for fine surfaces). The Queen 1 reached beta where it printed side doors for helicopter cockpits. Q.Big 3D sees applications across rail and commercial vehicles, shipbuilding, aerospace, mechanical engineering, architecture, construction, exhibition-stand construction and building technology. The company says customers report a 70% lead-time reduction and at least a 30% cost reduction versus alternatives such as milling, laminating or casting. Following the R&D phase, Q.Big 3D states it is set for growth and is preparing for market launch of the Queen 1.
