Canopy Minerals develops a proprietary leaf mineral sensing technology that uses vegetation as a bioindicator to locate underground deposits of critical minerals such as copper and rare earth elements. The company aims to offer a non-destructive alternative to traditional exploration methods by reducing unnecessary drilling and land disturbance during early-stage exploration. Following participation in MEIA’s Launchpad program, Canopy closed a $100,000 pre-seed investment from the Climate Technology Founders Fund in June 2026. Planned uses of the funding include automating early stages of the sensing platform, expanding technical capabilities, and accelerating commercialization and deployment. Canopy plans to establish a specialized leaf mineral sensing laboratory in Baltimore and to grow its headcount from three to six employees by the end of 2027.
