Mason Graphite

3030 Le Carrefour Boulevard, Suite 600, Laval, Québec, H7T 2P5, Canada

Overview

Mason Resources is a Canadian mining and mineral processing company focused on the development of what management believes to be one of the highest grade graphite deposits known in the world. The 100% owned Lac Guéret graphite project is located in northeastern Québec, Canada. The company is also advancing a detailed study for large scale production of value-added graphite products, which was initiated in 2015. Such 2nd transformation includes micronization, additional purification, spheronization and coating, resulting in graphite products suitable for a wide range of technical applications (including carbon brushes, brake linings, plastics and lubricants), electrochemical applications (including alkaline batteries, Li-ion batteries and fuel cells), as well as other specialized uses. Mason Graphite has been working on product development and manufacturing processes with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), COREM and Hatch. The management team has more than 20 years of experience in processing and marketing different types of graphite and other carbon products to the alkaline and Li-ion battery industries.

    Led · Equity · Nov 2016

NanoXplore manufactures few-layer graphene powder, masterbatch pellets of graphene-enhanced polymers, and blow- and injection-molded products using a patented, low-cost, environmentally friendly process to make graphene from natural flake graphite. The company supplies graphene for high-performance composites that improve mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of polymers. Reported applications include electric motors, enclosures with EMI shielding and thermal management, piping, impermeable containers, surface vehicles and next-generation batteries. NanoXplore is described as Canada’s largest producer of graphene. Financially, it raised $2.255M of equity financing and also received a $3.3M award from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC). The company plans to use the funds to scale up graphene production from 4 to 64 metric tonnes per year and to help customers develop new products using graphene-enhanced polymers. NanoXplore is a privately held advanced materials company focused on large-scale production of high-quality graphene and integration of graphene into real-world industrial products. Its material is described as having few defects, high dispersibility, and tunable platelet dimensions enabled by its production process. The company partners with customers to integrate graphene via sales of standard products, custom formulations, and product development services. NanoXplore maintains a strong intellectual property portfolio that it says enables high-volume customers to achieve cost reductions and efficiency gains through technology licensing. The company has seen strong interest in applications including smart textiles, Li-ion batteries, lubricants, paints, and polymers. A recent financing is intended to fuel continued growth and accelerate customer acquisition and sales efforts.
