Body Labs develops technology that creates true-to-life 3D human body models that capture surface details and physical properties, and can add motion to simulate how fabrics move. Its system produces fully realistic scans including wrinkles and back fat, going beyond point-matching to include different body-property data. The company works with apparel makers, the United States Army on women’s Kevlar vest design, shoe manufacturers for orthotics, and sports apparel firms for protective gear. It offers BodyKit APIs for developers and operates BodyHub.com, where consumers can upload scans and share them with companies. Thus far Body Labs has operated as a consultant, and the recently closed $8 million Series A led by Intel Capital will fund development of a comprehensive suite of tools and products. The company’s long-term vision is to become a repository of human body information that developers and brands can integrate across fitting, health tracking, gaming, and special-effects use cases. Body Labs develops technology to analyze human body shape, pose and motion and offers a digital human body platform. The platform is intended to be used as the basis upon and around which goods and services can be designed, manufactured, bought and sold. The company is commercializing what it describes as the world's most advanced technology for these capabilities. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Manhattan, Body Labs is focused on applying its body-shape and motion analysis across industries. The company recently raised $2.2 million in a seed round to support its commercialization. Investors in the round included FirstMark Capital and New York Angels.
