OLSET provides a platform that enables business travelers to search for accommodations and matches them to the three highest-ranked hotels for each user based on multiple factors. The system personalizes rankings using each customer’s travel history and social signals, and the machine-learning algorithms improve as it collects more data. OLSET scrapes travel ratings and recommendation sites to categorize listings and extracts sentiment data that goes beyond basic amenities (for example, pool size and whether it’s worth using). Since launch it has processed more than 10 million categorized reviews and 40 million sentiments and expects to reach 100 million reviews and 500 million sentiments by year-end. The company exposes an API to power bookings with online travel agencies and to build customer profiles for third parties. It has a partnership with calendaring app Any.do and is testing “omni booking” features (including booking@olset.com) with plans to extend to Twitter, chat, text and other media. Headcount has grown to seven as OLSET adds developers and a marketing director to expand partnerships and end-customer reach.

Wedding Party is a mobile app that enables guests, friends and family to contribute photos and notes to a shared digital wedding album that can be published to Facebook or viewed on the company’s website. The app launched on iPhone and has expanded to an Android beta; the Android build is not yet feature-complete. Features include upgraded guest pages with collages, photo tagging, and integration with MyWedding.com so albums can appear on a couple’s wedding site. The team is working on web photo uploads to allow high-quality photos from the couple or photographer, and is considering an optimized iPad viewing experience. The company had been bootstrapped by founders Ajay Kamat, Himani Amoli, Gordon McCreight and Dan Perez prior to this round. Financially, Wedding Party recently closed a $1 million seed round to fund product development and team growth.
