Green Cloud Technologies is a Greenville, SC–based cloud technology solutions provider led by CEO Shay Houser. The company delivers custom Cisco-powered infrastructure, backup and recovery solutions, virtual desktops and support to a partner network of value-added resellers, managed service providers, and select consulting organizations. Its data centers run on technology platforms including Cisco, VMware, and Tintri. Green Cloud received $7.5M in combined debt and equity financing, consisting of a $5M senior line of credit and $2.5M of equity and subordinated debt. The new capital will be used to expand its national channel partner program and to pursue tuck-in cloud or data center asset acquisitions. The financing package is provided primarily by its existing investor base alongside Bridge Bank. Green Cloud Technologies is a cloud-based technology solutions provider delivering managed IT and telecom services to small and medium-sized businesses. Its offerings include VMware-based virtual servers, mirror-imaged disaster recovery, hosted telephone services, virtual PBX, unified communications, and business continuity solutions, backed by platforms such as BroadSoft, VMware, NetApp, and Cisco. The company sells exclusively through Authorized Partners—local consultants, IT managed service providers, and PBX distributors—and operates with no direct sales force. Green Cloud is headquartered in Greenville, SC, and plans to use the new financing to expand into the Myrtle Beach–Charleston–Savannah corridor and the Huntsville–Nashville–Chattanooga area, and to build out a second data center in Nashville, TN. Its channel-focused model enables partners to offer cloud services without making large investments to deploy fully redundant infrastructure. Financially, Green Cloud closed $2,750,000 of additional financing comprised of Series B Preferred Units and three-year convertible notes, following a prior $1,250,000 Series A in 2011.
