Founded in May 2010 by Fredrik Maro, Marc Weiner, Dan Levy, and Christine Apold, the platform soft-launched in September 2010 and has expanded from career and admissions advice into business and an entrepreneurship network. Experts on the platform include CEOs, entrepreneurs, investors and advisors such as Dave Berkus and David Ronick; they set their own rates (typically $30 to over $500 per consultation) and some have earned more than $10,000 in a year. New experts sometimes offer free consultations while the company vets their reputations and ratings. Evisors monetizes by taking a percentage of consultation sales and via affiliate partnerships that host Evisors widgets and earn referral fees. The company reports consultations sold have grown nearly tenfold year-over-year and, with strategic partnerships and new funding, is positioning itself to become the online destination for subject-matter expertise.
