  • Circularise

    Participated · Series A · Nov 2022

Circularise builds supply-chain transparency software focused on digital product passports and mass-balance bookkeeping, leveraging blockchain to allow secure sharing of product and material data. It serves chemicals, plastics, battery materials and metals industries, enabling suppliers to trace materials and share environmental footprints without exposing sensitive data. The platform helps brands gain visibility into Scope 3 emissions and aligns with regulatory trends such as digital product passports, the SEC’s proposed climate risk disclosure rules, and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Circularise was founded in 2016 and is based in Den Haag. The company recently closed a SAFE with Japan-based SEKISUI CHEMICAL, which includes a partnership to pilot a digital product passport and test mass-balance traceability software within SEKISUI’s supply chain. The strategic SAFE investment is intended to fund expansion into the chemicals market and set the stage for an upcoming Series B. Circularise builds blockchain-based digital product passports that store materials and lifecycle data to improve supply-chain traceability and enable better recycling decisions. Its public blockchain is designed to verify data correctness while allowing suppliers to control which information they share, addressing privacy and confidentiality concerns. The company has launched a mass balance bookkeeping product to help plastics and chemicals producers substitute oil- and gas-derived materials. Circularise says the platform can track manufacturing emissions and energy consumption to support circular-economy goals and reduce landfill waste. The Hague-based startup, founded by Mesbah Sabuh and Nordi de Vos from work at Delft University of Technology, raised €11 million in a Series A led by Brightlands Venture Partners, with Neste, Asahi Kasei and existing investor 4impact Capital participating; it has also secured European Commission grant funding. The company plans to use the funds to scale business operations, product and R&D, expand its international team, and accelerate international growth.
