Founded in 2023 in The Hague, Wave Energy Collective BV (Weco) is building the Kaizen Wave Energy Converter, a system that captures the horizontal motion of waves and converts it into electrical power through a belt-driven generator and adaptive control unit. The technology is designed to supply electricity to offshore platforms, remote communities, sensors, and autonomous equipment without fuel consumption or greenhouse-gas emissions. Development began as a master-thesis project and has progressed through simulations, small-scale tank tests, and full-scale prototypes that have already undergone ocean trials. The latest prototype integrates floaters, an anchoring system, and real-time controls that optimize performance across varying sea states. Weco adheres to principles that minimize marine-environment disturbance and aims to make wave energy a reliable component of the global energy transition. With fresh capital, the company will advance its development program and conduct open-sea tests to validate performance under real conditions. A larger demonstration campaign is planned for 2026 in partnership with local and international stakeholders, paving the way toward commercial deployment.
