Steer develops high-level autonomy tailored to automated parking, offering low-speed vehicle automation, supervisory parking management, and digital curb management. The company has at least two OEM partnerships to embed its parking tech as a vehicle feature and is expanding into the commercial sector. Steer is running a DFW Airport pilot to demonstrate an end-to-end automated parking ecosystem and to alleviate curbside congestion as travel and ride-hailing recover. The pilot will run for over a year and initially use 10 test vehicles (sedans, SUVs and potentially vans) outfitted with Steer’s AV software and a sensor suite of radar, camera, ultrasonics and precision GPS. Steer received a $1.5 million award from the North Central Texas Council of Governments to develop the airport test bed. The company also plans to open-source its valet parking APIs to enable interoperability between OEMs, parking managers and digital curb systems.
