- FourJaw Manufacturing Analytics
Participated · Equity · Apr 2022
FourJaw provides an IoT platform that monitors machine 'vital signs' such as utilisation and energy usage and turns that data into actionable insights to remove inefficiencies on the factory floor. The solution acts as a fitness tracker for machines and is used by over 120 manufacturers worldwide across aerospace, automotive, energy and food production. Founded in 2020 and based in Sheffield, the company was started by Chris Iveson and Robin Hartley-Willows. FourJaw currently employs 20 staff and plans to use new funds to accelerate product development and invest in its technology and customer success teams. The company said the investment will support growth and the creation of seven new jobs. FourJaw builds a digital platform described as a fitness watch for manufacturing machinery that works on every machine from legacy manual lathes to modern machining centres. The tool provides accurate, up-to-date information to help production teams time job durations, maximise uptime, unblock bottlenecks, and increase productivity. The platform is being deployed across U.K. precision engineering supply chains serving aerospace, energy (oil, gas, civil nuclear, and renewables), medical, defence, automotive, motorsport, machine knives, and consumer goods. FourJaw has secured £1 million in funding from the U.K. investor community, including North Invest and SFC Capital, alongside a grant from Innovate UK. The company says the new capital will strengthen its team, accelerate growth, and support delivery of its product roadmap. FourJaw positions its offering as an affordable, quick-to-install, cloud-backed alternative to costly, invasive Industry 4.0 solutions, with tablet interfaces that deliver easy-to-digest data to operatives and managers. FourJaw provides a cloud-based data capture and analysis technology platform designed to increase productivity on manufacturing factory floors. The platform is targeted at UK manufacturers and is reported to deliver productivity increases. The company was founded by Chris Iveson and Robin Hartley, former research engineers at the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). The AMRC counts partners including McLaren, Airbus, Boeing, BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce. FourJaw is based in Sheffield, UK. It recently secured a six-figure investment and had earlier received a Business Productivity Programme grant to accelerate development and roll-out of its productivity-maximising platform.
