Socopet develops innovative technologies and materials to produce exclusively 100% recyclable plastic packaging for food, pharmaceutical, detergent and personal care markets. The company raised €500,000 via an equity crowdfunding campaign on Opstart, exceeding a €200,000 minimum and targeting a €1 million cap, with a pre-money valuation of €7.95 million. Proceeds are earmarked for ongoing R&D in sustainable packaging technologies and for purchasing new equipment and machinery to maintain technological leadership. Socopet positions itself as the first innovative Italian industrial SME focused on recyclable PET packaging made from recycled/biodegradable/compostable feedstocks. The firm was founded at the end of 2015 and is based in Tortona (AL). Management, led by CEO Marco Petrini, says the company aims to offer a cost-effective, aesthetically convincing PET alternative for the food sector that could enable substitution of glass.
