  Wedge Buster operates a platform for social and mobile sports games, launching in open beta on Facebook with 100+ titles available as Facebook gaming experiences. The company plans a mobile offering in October to extend its asynchronous sports gaming beyond Facebook. Founder and CEO Scott Philp previously worked in social gaming and fantasy sports, most recently at QUICKHIT Football, which he sold to Majesco Entertainment. During a private alpha the startup acquired and developed over 100 games and attracted more than 250,000 registered users, who average 13 minutes per session and return multiple times per day. In alpha it sold sponsorships to brands targeting the sports demographic and plans to build revenue from sponsorships, in-game transactions, and partnerships with major sports media. The team positions itself to be the “Zynga for sports” by focusing on cross-channel, lightweight asynchronous games and platform distribution. Financially, the company has closed a $2.2 million Series A financing to support growth and product expansion.
