Vass Technologies is a Carmagnola, Italy–based cleantech startup that manufactures a ventilated roof system sold as prefabricated PuzzleRoof™ modules. The modules are installed at construction sites by screwing them to the roof structure like puzzle pieces and can be fitted in 24 hours, including circuitry and plumbing. Modules include integrated functions such as solar thermal, photovoltaic, roof windows, lighting and audio speakers, and natural ventilation, and can embed additional smart-building applications. The company is led by CEO Giuseppe Gianolio and won the 2011 Italian Venture Forum cleantech prize. Vass recently raised approximately €600K in seed funding from Piemontech and business angels of Club degli Investitori, adding to a €400K investment made by the founders. It intends to use the proceeds to continue expanding in the roof market.
