Caspar Health is a Berlin-based digital therapy and rehabilitation platform that provides on-demand therapeutic content to support patient recovery. The company offers over 1,000 therapeutic videos covering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, sports therapy and psychosomatic medicine. It serves more than 160 hospitals in Germany and has grown by over 300% in the past two years. Deutsche Rentenversicherung evaluated Caspar’s programme and found 97% of patients reacted positively. Founded in 2016, the firm raised €9 million in its most recent round and has raised approximately €16.8 million to date. The recent funding is described as further ensuring patients have access to rehabilitation treatment at any time, and the round was led by London-based Frog Capital with participation from Atlantic Labs, Ananda, Porterhouse Group and Nanz Venture. Caspar-Health provides a SaaS-based digital therapy platform that lets doctors and therapists create individually customized, interdisciplinary therapy plans and track recovery progress regardless of time and place. The app enables clinicians to monitor patients' recovery, communicate important information directly, and empower patients to self-exercise with supportive qualitative materials. Co-founded in 2016 by Maximilian Michels, Benjamin Pochhammer and Maximilian von Waldenfels, the company is based in Berlin and serves clinical customers. Over 100 hospitals currently use Caspar-Health for their therapeutic measures. The company plans to use new funding to continue expanding its platform capabilities and to grow its business reach in Germany and abroad. The raise supports scaling both product and market outreach. Caspar Health’s core product is a clinician-facing platform that automatically generates customizable therapy treatment plans and delivers instructional videos and educational content to patients via a mobile app. Doctors or therapists log in after diagnosis, can tailor the plans, and patients report feedback on exercises to allow adjustments. At launch the company offers about 1,000 videos and is in use in 64 hospitals across Germany, making it accessible to over 100,000 potential patients with 6,500 signed up so far. The service is sold as an enterprise SaaS subscription with a monthly facility fee plus a per-patient fee, and treatments are reimbursed by major reimbursement stakeholders at parity with face-to-face sessions. Caspar Health says it is launching internationally and the product is available in English, German, Mandarin, and Cantonese. The founders plan to expand into other markets with limited access to therapists or where in-person visits are unaffordable.
