Cinematique builds a "touchable video" product that makes video content shoppable by allowing viewers to tap or click items to save, learn more, or purchase. The startup says the technology can be applied beyond commerce to industries like education, automotive, travel, lifestyle and home. Leadership has changed: investor-entrepreneur Paul Dawalibi has become CEO at the request of the company’s investors, while co-founder Kyle Heller remains chief strategy officer and leads the product team in Los Angeles. Dawalibi will focus on building out sales and marketing from New York and plans to double down on existing partners while pursuing new markets. The company plans to hit key targets before pursuing a larger round in roughly 12 to 18 months. Cinematique has raised additional capital to support these plans and aims to scale the product to a broader audience. Cinematique is a touchable video platform that enables viewers to touch, tap or click on items in a moving video to access additional content and product information while continuing to watch. Viewers can sign in, save and collect items they touch to get updates about new content, products and sales. Launched to the high-end fashion and luxury retail market over a year ago, the company serves brand and publisher clients including Net‑a‑Porter, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade New York, Details Magazine and Stella McCartney. After the beta release of its editor in July, Cinematique added over 850 new creators to its platform, including Vox Media, Harper’s Bazaar, Vice Media and Nordstrom. Led by co‑founder and CEO Randy Ross and based in New York City, the company intends to use recent funding to invest in product innovation and expand into global markets. The article reports the company raised $3.5M in funding and that Manny Vinea will join the board of directors.
