AxleHire provides last-mile delivery solutions using proprietary technology, algorithms for real-time decisioning, and positioned sortation hubs to minimize transit times. The company operates an asset-light transportation network that right-sizes capacity based on demand and blurs the line between same- and next-day delivery. AxleHire serves shippers across retail, e-commerce, fresh foods and perishables, with customers including HelloFresh, Deliverr, Freshly, and Pet Food Express. It maintains multiple physical locations in U.S. metropolitan areas including Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Phoenix, Portland, and Seattle. AxleHire is exploring clean energy partnerships with cities and local governments and seeking delivery partners using electric methods for zero-emission delivery. The new capital will be used to deploy sortation technology, expand its network of locations, and hire additional talent to scale operations. AxleHire operates a last-mile delivery network that handles pickups, sorting at short‑term facilities and final-mile dropoffs for meal-kit and CPG customers. The company began in 2015 and currently serves San Francisco and Los Angeles. It processes more than 150,000 shipments per month and generates about $750,000 in monthly revenue, with a target of $1.5 million in revenue by April. AxleHire works with both large shippers (more than 10,000 items per month) and smaller businesses, and uses subcontracted carriers that transfer loads to AxleHire’s sorting facilities before local drivers complete deliveries. The company is gearing up to expand into new markets in early 2018 and later in the year, with planned targets including Portland, Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, Reno, Boise and Phoenix. AxleHire is piloting robot deliveries and developing a delivery locker system that can be used by any carrier or business.
