Xola is a cloud-based software platform that lets small travel and tour companies take bookings online and via mobile apps while managing payments, scheduling, marketing, and customer communications. Founded in 2011 and based in San Francisco, the company emphasizes a simple user interface, round-the-clock customer support, and a robust API architecture for complex integrations. Xola says it was among the first booking systems to integrate with resellers like Viator and has invested heavily in APIs to support applications on top of its platform. The company reports averaging 500 percent growth over the last two years. Xola competes with Rezdy, Rezgo, Checkfront, and Bookeo but plans to remain focused on integration innovation and international expansion. To date the company has raised a total of $6.8 million. Xola offers a unified, cloud-native software solution that lets small activity providers manage reservations, payments, calendaring, scheduling and distribution from a single, synced back office. Its platform enables online bookings through operators’ own websites, phone, email and in-person channels while maintaining realtime availability, guest details and inventory. The company targets small- to medium-sized tour operators and aims to become the equivalent of a Sabre/global distribution system for activities. Since emerging from StartX in summer 2012, Xola has signed on over 150 tour operators and attracted acquisition interest. To accelerate adoption it emphasizes no-install cloud delivery and flexible pricing so providers can start accepting online reservations quickly. Financially, Xola has raised just over $1.8M from angel and early investors to roll out its tools to the market.
