  Simbi runs a web-based marketplace where users list and swap skills and services, with offerings assigned value via a virtual credit system. The platform has been in beta and open to users 18+ since January 2016 and hosts roughly 15,000 services ranging from lessons to creative skills. The company is not yet revenue-generating and is focused on user growth while keeping the credits model as a potential future monetization path (buying credits or cashing out for sponsor rewards). Simbi’s five-person team is working to improve search and matching algorithms to help users find services and matches more easily. The startup plans to use funding to hire and increase awareness of the marketplace and intends to develop native iOS and Android apps. Competition noted includes freelance marketplaces like Fiverr and TaskRabbit as well as edtech platforms such as Udemy and Udacity.
