  Blossom Energy is a deep-tech startup developing high-temperature gas reactors and heat-energy storage systems aimed at decarbonizing industrial heat and greening steam. The company was founded in January 2022 and is led by CEO Shinphei Hamamoto, who spent 20 years on research reactors at JAEA. Its mission is to “green” steam and help cut 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions by targeting heat demand. Blossom Energy is advancing both an HTGR system for large, high-density heat consumers and a graphite-based thermal storage solution for small- and medium-sized heat users to integrate renewables. The firm emphasizes iterative R&D (trial & error and scrap & build) to mature its technologies. Financially, the company has recently completed a pre-Series A and plans to use proceeds to hire engineers and business-development staff to commercialize its technologies.
