Founded in 2023, France-based Byome Labs is a deep-tech company that analyzes skin, scalp, oral, and vaginal microbiomes to match consumers with the most suitable cosmetic products. Its flagship system, Byome Derma, can read a customer’s skin microbiome in-store without invasive hardware and instantly suggest optimal products, positioning the firm as an enabler of personalized retail experiences for major cosmetics brands. The company has compiled a proprietary database of more than 5,000 microbiome profiles and built its own AI to interpret this data. Industry players such as Clarins and Shiseido are already in advanced talks to deploy the kit once production begins. Byome plans to start industrial manufacturing of Byome Derma kits by the end of 2025, expand its R&D and commercial teams, and begin international rollout across Europe, the United States, and Asia in 2026. The startup is additionally backed by ecosystem supporters including Bpifrance (Deeptech), French Tech, Cosmetic Valley, École Polytechnique, Dev’Up Centre Val de Loire, and Village by CA.
