ByzGen is a newly formed blockchain company spun out from Crossword Cybersecurity plc following a joint project with the University of Warwick and EPFL. It targets the Defence and Security sector, aiming to provide data and information assurance, provenance and future-proof protection using distributed ledger technology. The company follows a Ministry of Defence-funded proof-of-concept and continues to work closely with the defence user community to implement the technology. Crossword has licensed its blockchain intellectual property to ByzGen and entered a long-term commercial agreement with the spin-out. Marcus Ralphs, a former Sandhurst-trained British Army officer, has been appointed CEO to lead commercial and user engagement efforts.
