Dequency is a Los Angeles, CA–based Web3 music synchronization licensing marketplace provider building a decentralized music licensing platform on the Algorand blockchain. Founded in early 2021 by Keatly Haldeman, George Howard and Mark Ross, the company is developing tools to connect music and visual creators. Dequency’s platform aims to eliminate third parties from licensing transactions, increasing payment speed, reducing fees, and returning control to market participants. The product is currently in development and the company plans to use new funding to build out a peer-to-peer function. That peer-to-peer capability will enable music creators to upload works and directly license them for use in visual art projects. The team frames the service as analogous to Bitcoin’s trustless digital payments for licensing.
