Vista is described as the world’s leading global private aviation group and a leading private jet company with a global presence across markets. The group provides private jet services and positions itself as a long‑track industry innovator. Vista said the $600 million equity investment will optimize the Group’s capital structure and enhance free‑cash‑flow generation. The funding is intended to reduce indebtedness and accelerate deleveraging. The company also plans to use the transaction to diversify its investor base and further strengthen its financial position. Vista framed the investment as validation of confidence in its strategic vision and business model. VistaJet, founded in 2004 by Thomas Flohr, is a private aviation company that operates an operations hub in Malta and main sales offices in London, Dubai, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. The company has built a fleet of over 70 wholly‑owned super midsized and ultra‑long range aircraft with identical livery, managed via a proprietary internally developed technology platform. This year VistaJet introduced VistaJet Direct, a digital membership giving customers priority access to one‑way and empty‑leg flights via the company’s app and website. In August 2017 Rhône Capital made a $150M primary equity investment and, together with secondary acquisitions, will hold a $200M stake in the company. The transaction valued VistaJet’s equity on a post‑money basis in excess of $2.5 billion. VistaJet said it will use the proceeds to grow the business both organically and by acquisition.
- XtalPi
Led · Series D · Aug 2021
XtalPi develops an ID4 (Intelligent Digital Drug Discovery and Development) platform that combines computational physics, quantum chemistry, and cloud computing to predict key characteristics of new drug candidates. The platform measures various chemical indicators to enhance drug R&D efficiency and has enabled hundreds of pharmaceutical companies to accelerate their research pipelines. According to the articles, ID4's work has led to dozens of discoveries. Financially, XtalPi completed a $400 million Series D in August 2021 led by OrbiMed and RRJ, following a $300 million Series C less than a year earlier. The Series D brought XtalPi's valuation to over RMB 13 billion (approximately USD 2 billion). XtalPi develops an AI‑powered platform that combines atomic‑level physics simulation with data science to predict and prioritize drug‑like molecules. The company works with major pharmaceutical partners, including Pfizer, to identify promising targets and reduce dead ends in R&D. Its technology emphasizes extremely low‑level simulation and prediction alongside more traditional machine‑learning approaches. XtalPi requires significant scientific staff and facilities to validate and advance digital predictions into real‑world candidates. The firm positions its platform as a way to improve research efficiency and success rates across drug discovery, though the broader field has not yet delivered prominent breakthroughs. XtalPi was founded in 2014 and is described as an American‑Chinese biotech operation. XtalPi develops computation-driven drug discovery and development applications that integrate quantum physics, artificial intelligence and cloud computing to predict important drug properties of small molecules. Its core products are computational tools intended to accelerate and de-risk pharmaceutical innovations. The company plans to use the new funds to support continuous market growth and expand application of its technology into new areas of pharmaceutical research. XtalPi was founded in 2014 by a group of quantum physicists at MIT and is based in Cambridge, Mass. To date it has raised over $66m. The business combines physics-driven models with AI to target pharmaceutical research workflows. XtalPi builds computational tools that predict the crystal structures of drug molecules to inform stability and other properties that affect clinical success. The company combines AI, quantum-physics algorithms and high-performance cloud computing to improve the efficiency and accuracy of drug design, and it also works on drug discovery. XtalPi has built an elastic HPC cloud that can deploy up to one million cores across AWS, Tencent Cloud, Google Cloud and Alibaba Cloud. Founded in 2014 by three Chinese MIT graduates, it operates offices in Cambridge, Beijing and Shenzhen and has about 60 employees. The company plans to use big data from its high-precision computing platform to develop new computational models and to expand into new segments of the pharma industry. It is also developing a "prediction-driven research lab" that will combine its computational R&D with lab technology to produce more precise results and predictions.
