Aterlo Networks builds technology to help bandwidth- or datacap-limited homes enjoy high-quality streaming by pre-loading video content during off-peak hours. Its NightShift product stores content closer to subscribers and times downloads to coincide with ISP free zones so downloading does not impact subscribers' datacaps. The company says many households nearly have enough bandwidth for HD but hit data caps quickly—streaming an hour of HD uses about 3GB—and expects the problem to grow with 4K and multiple simultaneous streams. Aterlo will use the funding to expand NightShift features, hire local talent, and grow its marketing team. The company is early-stage and has secured outside investment to accelerate product development and go-to-market activities.
