OpenSeneca is a spin-off of Scytl’s non-election eDemocracy business that will offer a freemium platform to connect citizens and elected representatives. The platform is designed to enable engagement, debate and deliberation, and to let cities deploy an online voting capability for specific proposals. It will leverage Scytl’s existing software, IP and expertise while using big data to combine learnings across deployments and drive innovation in governance. Pablo Saris, formerly Scytl’s Senior VP of Corporate Development, will serve as CEO of OpenSeneca. The company plans a public launch in spring 2016 and aims to become a reference in a market projected to reach €1 billion within five years. Scytl is Barcelona-based and will continue to support the new business.
