PrognomiQ develops multi-omics liquid biopsy tests that combine deep proteomics with genomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, cell-free DNA, RNA, metabolites, and lipids to identify biomarkers for cancer and other complex diseases. The company leverages Seer’s Proteograph™ Product Suite and was spun out of Seer in September 2020. PrognomiQ is advancing an early detection lung cancer test intended first as a lab-developed test (LDT) and later as an in vitro diagnostic (IVD), and it has obtained a CLIA license to support LDT development. It is currently enrolling a prospective 15,000-subject lung cancer study, initiated in 2023, to support IVD registration. Earlier research from a 2,513-subject case-control study demonstrated 89% sensitivity and 89% specificity in the validation cohort, including 80% sensitivity for stage 1 lung cancer. The company has raised more than $135 million since its founding and is based in San Mateo, Calif. PrognomiQ develops and commercializes multi-omics human tests using proteomics, metabolomics and genomics technologies to generate deep biological insights into cancer mechanisms and host response. The company generates rich phenotypic proteomic and metabolomics information and complements this with large-scale genomics data to improve detection, treatment selection and monitoring of complex diseases. PrognomiQ intends to use the new funding to accelerate development of its platform and its pipeline of multi-omics products focused on multiple cancers. The company was founded in September 2020 and is led by CEO Philip Ma. Financially, the announced round brings its total funding to more than $101M, including the latest $46M financing announced in March 2022. PrognomIQ was spun out of Seer to develop and commercialize multi-omics human tests that leverage proteomics alongside genomics and metabolomics. The company plans to use Seer’s Proteograph data to provide functional protein context for genetic variation and to create differentiated multi-omics approaches for early detection, treatment monitoring, and recurrence monitoring of disease. PrognomIQ intends to combine protein-level information with other omics to improve test performance for cancer and other complex diseases. Seer has demonstrated Proteograph utility in early disease detection in a proof-of-concept non-small cell lung cancer study published in Nature Communications. Seer retains approximately 19% minority ownership in PrognomIQ after the spin-out. Philip Ma, Ph.D., founder and former Chief Business Officer of Seer, is the newly appointed CEO of PrognomIQ.
