Ponea Health operates a multitiered marketplace that helps users discover and connect with physicians, facilities and healthcare packages by need, location and cost. Consultations occur virtually or physically, and the platform connects patients with lab providers or uses Ponea’s own phlebotomists for sample collection; a medical operations call center supports the end‑to‑end experience. Providers are vetted and rated using government data and physician certifications, and patients can rate providers to inform rankings. The product includes chronic disease management features and employer/SME offerings where employees access preselected providers and a non‑expiring Ponea wallet balance. The platform supports API integration, is evaluating a global mental‑health symptom checker, and can collect data from wearable devices. Ponea was founded in June 2019 and, as of January last year, had signed up more than 400 health and well‑being professionals and over 15,000 customers with a reported 54% conversion rate. The company aims to grow its customer base by 500,000 in three years and establish a presence in South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt and Morocco.
