Silicon Alley Venture Partners
300 Park Avenue, New York, NY, 10022, United States
Overview
Silicon Alley Venture Partners ("SAVP") was originally founded in 1998 to focus on early growth investing in Technology Enabled and Business Information Services (TES/BIS) companies primarily located in the greater Tri-State Area from eastern Pennsylvania to northern Connecticut. TES/BIS is the next logical step in the maturation of the information technology industry. As opposed to creating entirely new technology, TES/BIS companies leverage existing technology to solve business problems or create substantially improved efficiencies. Additionally, the Tri-State region is the headquarters to over 30% of the Fortune 500 and has a strong focus on some of the largest industries including financial services, media, publishing, information services, retail and pharmaceuticals. The region is a rich environment for entrepreneurs to offer technology enabled services and business information services to these industries. In fact, we find that many of the entrepreneurs we back have deep domain expertise in one or more of these areas.

Rewind.Me is an iOS app that imports and organizes users' social and location history to make past experiences searchable by date, location, category and distance. Version 1.0 integrates with Foursquare and offers calendar and friend-based views of places visited. The company plans to integrate additional social networks and add filters by friend and content type (video, image, link, message). Rewind rates user activity and intensity across 300 categories and — after users opt in — offers rewards from brands and advertisers based on past activity. Brands cited include Victoria’s Secret, Warby Parker, BirchBox and Uber, which can use Rewind’s signals to reward loyal customers. The article notes the app is available in the Apple App Store and that Rewind.Me secured seed funding to support its growth.
