poLight develops autofocus lens solutions for mobile phone cameras, including its qualified first product, TLens Silver. The company offers instant focus across all objects in an image and the ability to refocus post-capture. Production has been qualified in cooperation with STMicroelectronics and assembly partner THEIL in Taiwan. poLight intends to use the new funding to continue commercializing its autofocus lens, ramp up production and secure its first customer. Management is led by CEO Øyvind Isaksen and Chairman Eivind Bergsmyr. The company announced plans to pursue an IPO within one year following the financing and valuation event. poLight develops high-speed, ultra-low-power autofocus actuated micro lenses aimed at modern camera-phone applications, including continuous-autofocus video. The company has worked with several potential customers while refining its lens technology. Led by CEO Øyvind Isaksen, poLight is establishing manufacturing capacity in cooperation with ST Microelectronics. Volume production was planned to start in the second half of 2015. The company raised funding to continue developing its solutions and scale toward production. The financing supports product development and manufacturing ramp activities. poLight AS, based in Horten south of Oslo, Norway, develops micro-optics components for mobile imaging. The company has patented proprietary technology that enables production of reflowable, wafer-scale active optical components based on deformable polymers. Its TLens products can be integrated into mobile phone camera modules across low- to high-end devices, supporting resolutions up to 12 megapixels. poLight is led by CEO Christian Dupont and targets integration into handset camera modules. Financially, the company closed a NOK100m ($18.5m) Series B financing round in mid-2011. That financing could be extended to NOK130m ($24.5m) later in the year if additional investors join the consortium.
