  • Optomeditech

    Led · Equity · Dec 2014

Optomeditech Ltd is an Espoo, Finland-based developer of OptiVein®, a light-guided intravenous catheter system designed to increase first-attempt success in IV cannulation. OptiVein integrates a light guide into the IV catheter needle so tissue illumination helps locate veins and the light disappears when the needle enters the vein, signaling the exact penetration moment. Led by CEO Amiel Rubinstein, the company secured ISO 13485 quality-management certification and a CE mark for OptiVein issued by BSI in the United Kingdom as the notified body. Optomeditech raised $2.5M in funding in a round led by Lifeline Ventures and Sitra, The Finnish Innovation Fund. The product targets the most common invasive procedure in healthcare—IV cannulation—and the certifications support its regulatory compliance for market use.

  • Nexstim

    Participated · Equity · May 2011

Nexstim develops the Navigated Brain Stimulation (NBS) system, a non-invasive, image-guided transcranial magnetic stimulation platform used for functional brain mapping and therapeutic neuromodulation. The NBS System is positioned as a standard for pre-operative functional brain mapping prior to tumor resection or epilepsy surgery, with accuracy shown to be equivalent to direct cortical stimulation. The technology also underpins potential neuromodulation therapies for stroke, depression, pain and other neurological conditions. The NBS System is approved for use in both the U.S. and European markets for direct, non-invasive cortical mapping, with FDA clearance for assessment of the primary motor cortex for pre-procedural planning. Nexstim highlights ongoing clinical evidence supporting its value in neurosurgery and aims to pioneer navigated stimulation therapy in stroke and other neurotherapy markets. Financially, the company announced additional equity financing as part of a latest round totaling €13.4 million and has raised over €30 million to date.
