Datamolino builds a platform that uses optical character recognition plus a human verification service to convert paper, scans and PDF invoices/receipts into structured data and securely stores them in the cloud. The product targets accounting professionals and small-to-medium enterprises, offering both software and a premium human-checking upsell to improve accuracy. It processes invoices and receipts (including scans and PDFs) and competes with firms such as Shoeboxed, Receipt Bank, Celaton and Invitbox. The company has 180 customers in a closed beta and plans a public beta in March followed by a full commercial launch after May. Datamolino is working on integrations with SME accounting packages (Sage One, QuickBooks, Xero) and with Telefonica to be added to O2 cloud to accelerate distribution. Target markets are Europe initially, with Latin America and the U.S. identified as promising longer-term opportunities. The team is considering opening headquarters in London, Brazil or the U.S. to support expansion.
