Netronome develops the Open Appliance platform which combines hardware co-processors and software to accelerate network appliances for security, WAN and LAN application optimization. It also supports virtualization of appliances, enabling consolidation and flexible configuration of appliance functions in data centers without degrading performance. Netronome says it already ships product to customers. The company was founded in 2003 by Niel Viljoen, David Wells and Johann Tönsing and has headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA with offices in Cambridge, UK and Centurion, South Africa.
