    Participated · Seed · Jun 2019

Cipher Skin operates a hardware-enabled platform that combines interconnected wearable sensors and proprietary software to provide real-time motion and biometric tracking for musculoskeletal care. Its product lineup includes BioSleeves for upper and lower extremities and the BioCore torso sensor, all tied to a Recovery App that visualizes data and diagnostics. The Recovery App now supports Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) billing and can securely share outcomes with CEHRT systems via a Kno2 integration. Cipher Skin’s patented sensor network is designed to connect in-clinic therapy with at-home recovery, enabling continuous patient progress monitoring and more patient-centered, hybrid care. The company is positioning these product and partnership expansions to help clinics improve outcomes, increase revenue, and participate in value-based care models. Cipher Skin develops a data insights platform for the physical world built around its Cipher Mesh technology. The Cipher Mesh is a network of sensors that can be printed on textiles and wrapped around physical objects—from human limbs to bridges and pipes—to capture movement and retrieve internal metrics. Its proprietary software translates those signals into actionable, visualized diagnostics aimed at solving challenges across several industries. The company was founded in 2017 by CEO Philip Bogdanovich and COO Dr. Shaka Bahadu and is based in Denver, CO. Cipher Skin raised $5M in a Series A and intends to use the funds to grow its product line and expand into new markets. Cipher Skin is developing wearable technology and an application called The Digital Mirror™ that visualizes direct and accurate motion data without cameras or bulky equipment. Its products include an arm sleeve that measures upper-limb motion, heart rate, oxygen saturation and biceps expansion in real time, and a prototype of leggings that measure lower-limb metrics such as steps, stride length, cadence, joint flexion/extension and pelvic balance. The system captures biosignals including heart rate and oxygen saturation alongside detailed body motion. Cipher Skin holds two U.S. patents covering over 80 unique claims. The company plans to use proceeds from its seed funding to continue development efforts. Co‑founded by Phillip Bogdanovich, Craig Weller and Shaka Bahadu, the company is based in Denver, CO and is creating a large database of human movement.
