Participated · Series A · Jan 2024
Komunal operates two business lines: DepositoBPR by Komunal and Komunal P2P Lending. DepositoBPR enables Indonesian residents to make digital deposits in rural banks at government‑guaranteed deposit rates without visiting branches. Komunal P2P Lending connects local micro, small and medium enterprises with lenders able to provide loans. The company announced completion of a $5.5M A+ financing round. The financing was described in the article but no revenue or user metrics were provided. The article focuses on the product offerings and the recently closed A+ round. Komunal digitizes Indonesia's rural banks (BPRs) through its DepositoBPR platform, enabling users to make deposits and apply for loans digitally without visiting physical branches. It also operates a peer-to-peer lending platform that connects MSMEs with lenders. The startup partners with more than 220 banks in tier 2 and tier 3 cities across 19 provinces and was founded in 2019 in Surabaya, East Java. In 2022 its platform channeled IDR 3.6 billion (about $230 million) in deposits and loans, a 350% year-over-year increase from $50 million in 2021, and it expects transaction volume to exceed $500 million this year. Komunal has recorded positive EBITDA since October 2022. Its DepositoBPR app lets customers choose rural banks and deposit products, create virtual accounts, transfer funds, and access government-guaranteed deposits with higher interest rates.

SunFi operates a marketplace and finance platform that aggregates solar system vendors and offers lease-to-own and subscription payment options to households and businesses. The company vets vendors and de-risks technical and credit risk to open lending channels for clean energy portfolios. Since launching, SunFi has onboarded over 40 solar system vendors (10 core providers), served more than 129 customers and deployed over $600,000 via partnerships with financial institutions. Revenues come from margins on lease-to-own contracts and subscription fees; the firm is developing a third revenue stream to provide inventory financing to solar providers. The team is roughly 29 people and plans to enhance its platform over the next 12–18 months while targeting conversion of more than 4,000 customers in that period. SunFi positions itself as a fintech-for-clean-tech intermediary that helps solar providers, customers and investors manage installations and financing workflows.
