RideOS has developed a cloud-based fleet-management platform that aggregates mapping, traffic and computer-vision/GPS detection data to suggest the safest, most efficient routes for vehicles in a given geography. The founders position the product as an independent orchestration layer to enable communication between competing self-driving services, likening the approach to an automated Waze that relies on machine-detected events rather than human input. The platform is designed to work today for human-driven fleets as well, and the company says it has signed unnamed partnerships with mobility companies. RideOS has already announced partnerships with Ford’s Autonomic and with ST Engineering to accelerate autonomous deployments in Singapore. The company plans to use new funding to expand its services into global transportation markets and to leverage Next47’s network and Siemens’ footprint for European and international expansion. Financially, RideOS has raised multiple rounds and is positioning its platform as the coordination layer for growing AV fleets. RideOS designs and builds marketplace and mapping services that can be used by ride-hailing companies, OEMs, and governments to operate fleets of on-demand self-driving vehicle services. Its core cloud-based, real-time services include autonomous vehicle routing, estimated time of arrival (ETA) calculations, dispatch, supply positioning, multi-rider trip planning, and fleet management dashboards. The company is led by CEO and co-founder Justin Ho and CTO and co-founder Chris Blumenberg. In June 2018 RideOS raised $9M in a Series A led by Sequoia Capital with participation from Graph Ventures and SV Angel. Sequoia partner Mike Vernal joined RideOS' board in conjunction with the funding. RideOS said it will use the funds for recruiting, platform research and development, and additional partnerships and announced a partnership with Ford-owned Autonomic to offer routing and marketplace services to Autonomic's OEM customers via the Transportation Mobility Cloud.
